Joanne Sternlieb, Senior Vice President, rejoined the firm in November 2012. For ten years she was a Senior Estate Planner and Trust Counsel at Neuberger Berman Trust Company and in November 2022 she joined the Bolton Group as a Senior Estate Planner. She has over 30 years of experience in the trust and estates area. Before rejoining Neuberger in 2012, Joanne had her own law firm specializing in estate planning and trust and estate administration. Before establishing her own law firm in 2002, she was a Vice President and Senior Estate Planner at Neuberger Berman Trust Company. Joanne began her career as an associate, and then counsel, at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, a large international law firm, where she worked for over 12 years. Joanne’s experience includes advising clients on all aspects of estate planning, including gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning, charitable gifting techniques and the administration of trusts and estates. Joanne has extensive experience representing high net worth individuals, as well as those individuals who are growing their wealth. Joanne received her BA from Amherst College, magna cum laude, and received her law degree from New York University School of Law. She is a past member of the Committee on Trusts, Estates & Surrogate’s Courts and of the Committee on Estate and Gift Taxation of the New York City Bar Association. Joanne has lectured on estate planning and estate administration as well as on starting your own law firm and work-life balance issues. Joanne is on the board of the Daniella Moffson Foundation, a charitable organization that seeks to empower young adults to pursue a lifelong engagement in communal activities and volunteer opportunities. Joanne is also a member of the Presidents' Circle Membership Council at Colgate University.
